Pamono Antique Japanese Meiji Tansu Chest of Drawers, 1900s Best

A beautiful Japanese tansu chest from the Meiji period (ca. 1900), combining refined craftsmanship with timeless functionality.

Dimensions: height 53 cm, width 91 cm, depth 45 cm.

The chest features two spacious drawers, each fitted with elegant forged iron handles and reinforced with decorative corner brackets. On the right side, a small door—richly adorned with intricate ironwork—opens to reveal an additional compartment with a drawer. One small inner drawer is missing, though this does not detract from the overall charm and usability of the piece.

The warm tones of the natural wood contrast beautifully with the dark iron fittings, which serve both as ornamentation and as structural reinforcement. with its subtle patina and traces of age, this chest embodies the authentic wabi-sabi aesthetic: the quiet beauty of imperfection and time.
