Pamono Arts and Crafts Children’s Chair, 1940s New

This charming little children’s chair is a unique, handmade piece made of solid, oiled cherry wood. It is elaborately crafted. All joints are tenoned. Probably from Switzerland, circa 1940/50. The chair can be attributed to the Arts and Crafts movement. The Arts and Crafts movement placed great value on the joy of handcrafting and the natural beauty of materials. In the age of machine production, it sought a return to craftsmanship. Industrially manufactured objects were perceived as “soulless.” This idea led to a return to the qualities of craftsmanship. To express the beauty of craftsmanship, the objects were given a rustic and robust appearance. The chair is in excellent condition, showing no significant signs of wear. Seat height: 26 cm.
