A rare and elegant outdoor garden set designed by Carlo Hauner for Fratelli Reguitti, produced in Italy during the 1960s. This thoughtfully designed ensemble includes a round table and four foldable chairs in the classic “director chair” style.
The chairs feature a solid wood frame with stainless steel hardware and joints, emphasizing both functionality and refined craftsmanship. The seat and backrest are upholstered in original striped cotton canvas in soft cream white and rose tones, evoking a timeless and summery aesthetic. All four chairs are foldable for ease of storage and transport.
The round table is composed of a two-part removable top, allowing for convenient disassembly. The table base is also foldable, making the entire set ideal for flexible outdoor use. A central opening in the tabletop is designed to accommodate a parasol.
This set is a fine example of Italian mid-century modern outdoor furniture. It remains in very good vintage condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Carlo Hauner (1927–1996) arrived in Brazil in 1948, settling in São Paulo amid the optimism of post-WWII modernism. In 1950, he founded Moveis Artesanal to create modern furniture for leading architects like Lina Bo Bardi and Gregori Warchavchik.
Trained in design at Milan’s Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Hauner led the company until 1953, when he partnered with Austrian-born architect Martins Eisler (1913–1977), who had come from Argentina and commissioned furniture from the company. Their creative collaboration became a reference point in Brazilian design.
In 1955, the company was restructured and renamed Forma, and Hauner left the enterprise.
