This iconic telescopic shelf was designed by Ulrich P. Wieser for Wohnbedarf AG in Switzerland in 1958 and embodies the functional yet elegant design of the Mid-Century Modern period.
The free-standing shelf consists of five height-adjustable tension supports made of black painted square steel, which are clamped between the floor and ceiling using stainless steel threaded rods. This allows the system to be flexibly mounted between a minimum height of 224 cm and a maximum height of 264 cm.
The 28 shelves are made of maple and offer a variety of design options thanks to their modular concept.
The shelf can not only be used as a classic wall shelf, but is also ideal as a stylish room divider in open living concepts. The horizontal structure and the reduced design language underline the timeless design.
Condition: The shelf is in good, used condition with signs of wear commensurate with its age. Some of the shelves show visible scuff marks, scratches and slight discoloration. The metal supports are technically fully functional, but show minor paint chips and signs of wear. Overall, an authentic piece of Swiss design history with a beautiful patina.
Dimensions: L352 x W34 x H245 cm
