Pamono Napoleon III Chaise Longue or Duchesse in Polychrome Wood, France

One of a kind antique “Duchesse Brisee” (Broken Duchess) in off-white and soft green polychrome wood, France, circa 1880, Napoleon III period. The set consists of two armchairs (his and hers) and a matching ottoman between them for use by both. Each piece stands on cabriole legs decorated with floral shoulder motifs, over a scalloped apron. Both the rounded and curved backrests are decorated with hand-carved floral and foliage motifs, and each comfortable seat is dressed with a loose cushion. The multiple sections are upholstered in the original floral and foliage fabric and adorned with brass nailheads. The chaise longue is in excellent condition, commensurate with age and use, with wonderful carvings, and adorned with a rich patina.
A highly sought-after piece in the art and decor market, exquisite and timeless in any space! Simply changing the upholstery could give it a more contemporary look, depending on your desired decor.
