This side cabinet is constructed from high quality and extremely well figured mahogany veneers and features some extremely good quality carved decoration. In fact all elements of the construction in this cabinet and all the materials used are of very high quality which really adds to the appeal of the piece.
The high grade mahogany veneers, which contrast nicely against the brass grille panelled doors ooze class and sophistication, making it would a great addition to just about any room of the house.
Overall the condition is very good with just the expected old blemishes on something of this age. There are a few minor historic chips to the marble top, but these are very small and not particularly noticable to be honest as they now just blend in, however there is an image supplied in which they can be seen for reference.
Quite possibly made as part of a selection of similarly styled furniture to furnish a grand dining room or similar this side cabinet offers a slightly different, more elegant, storage solution to the sterotypical georgian, or regency sideboard. It could also have been made and utilised in drawing rooms and entrance halls as well.
This would be particularly good for an entrance hall due to the overall shallow design and would look absolutely fabulous with a pair of brass lamps, or ormolu candelabra on top of it.
