The hand-sewn, irregularly placed staples are typical signs of artisanal production. Underneath, the hardboard panel stamped “SWEDEN” does not guarantee the chest’s origin, but allows for its dating: in the 1950s and 1960s, Sweden was one of the main suppliers of hardboard panels, massively exported to Europe, which is no longer the case today.
The top of the chest, with its chain, opens easily and remains fixed, ideal for everyday use.
This chest seduces with its sublime natural patina, a testament to time and its history.
Carefully restored, it has regained all its splendor while retaining its original charm. A bamboo stem remains slightly curved inward (see photo) but in no way detracts from its attractive appearance.
