The comfortable seat is upholstered in the original tweed fabric in brown/beige/cream and features a metal 5-star base (black/silver) and leather-look armrests. The chair can rotate 360 degrees and, despite its age, still does so very smoothly.
This chair is in excellent condition. There are only a few signs of wear on the base, some ‘bumps’ in the backrest padding (which do not affect seating comfort) and there are no stains on the upholstery.
In some photos, it looks as if there are stains on the backrest, but this is due to the bumps in the filling.
This model is very similar in design and size to the ‘Michigan’ armchair designed by Geoffrey D. Harcourt for the Dutch company Artifort. Personally, I find the continuous shape of the armrests of the Gispen chair much more attractive in terms of appearance.
The chair looks great as an armchair in your living room or bedroom, but can of course also be used as a desk chair (you can add casters for extra convenience). The chair is not height adjustable.
